Apollo Tyres Ltd is India’s leading tyre manufacturing industry that was started on September 28, 1972. They are involved in producing automobile tyres & tubes. They are the 1st Indian tyre industry to set up entire branded outlets for truck tyres and also the 1st Indian industry to launch radial tyres for the farm category.
Presently, they have 4 manufacturing facilities in India- 2 (including a leased facility) in the rubber-producing state of Kerala and one each in Tamil Nadu & Gujarat. They also have a manufacturing facility each in Hungary & the Netherlands. In 1977, they began their production at Perambra in Kerala.
Apollo had declared it will acquire Cooper Tire & Rubber Co in an all-cash transaction that amounted to approx dollar 2.5 billion (nearly Rs 14,500 cr.) and the merged entity was billed to become the 7th largest tyre maker in the world.

In 1995: Apollo Tyres obtained Premier Tyres at Kalamassery in Kerala.
In 2003: They entered into a strategic alliance with Michelin France for launching a joint venture company namely Michelin Apollo Tyres Pvt Ltd for manufacturing dual-branded truck & bus radial tyres in India.
In 2004: They manufactured India's 1st Hi-speed rated tubeless passenger car radial tyres.
During 2005-2006: They started a completely owned subsidiary company Apollo (Mauritius) Holdings Pvt Ltd in Mauritius and they also created Apollo Automotive Tyres Ltd and Apollo Radial Tyres Ltd as completely owned subsidiaries of the company.
In 2006: They obtained Dunlop Tyres International (Pty) Ltd, South Africa.
During 2006-2007: They started Apollo Tyres AG Switzerland as a completely owned subsidiary. Also, 2 subsidiaries namely Apollo Radical Tyres Ltd & Apollo Automotive Tyres Ltd have been desubsidiarized.
In 2008: They launched their 1st full-services branded commercial vehicle tyre outlet known as Apollo Trust in Salem Tamilnadu.
In 2011: They declared the set up of India's only full-service outlet for commercial vehicles Apollo Commercial Vehicle Zone on the outskirts of Delhi in Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar.
In 2013: They declared the launch of its global R&D center in Enschede the Netherlands. This state-of-the-art facility will cater to a hub for the development and testing of car and van tires for all product brands
In 2014: They declared their entry into the growing Qatar market in the Middle East region.
In 2015: They declared that it has successfully closed a Rs 300 million financing for its Greenfield plant in Hungary.
In 2016: They have set up Apollo Acti series two wheeler tyre thereby forming its foray in 2-wheeler tyre segment. They set up 3 new truck-bus radials HD Apollo EnduMile LHD, Apollo EnduRace RD and Apollo EnduComfort CA.
In 2017: They declared their debut in the extremely competitive Truck and Bus Radial tyre segment in Europe at the ongoing Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham. Also, declared the set up of its two-wheeler tyres in Sri Lanka.
In 2018: They declared it is starting a brand-new summer tyre onto the market known as the Apollo Aspire XP. Leveraging on the innovative developments in terms of construction and material technologies the Aspire XP combines outstanding levels of on-road comfort with a high degree of safety.
