Motherson Sumi Systems Limited (MSSL) declared that it had accomplished the acquisition of Visiocorp Group on 6th March 2009, for which the company had signed the terms sheet. MSSL subsidiary Samvardhana Motherson Visiocorp Solution Ltd. has obtained all the subsidiaries of Visiocorp plc (in administration) for a cash consideration of around 25 million Euro and issuing of 5% consideration shares that have a face value of 1.5 million Euro. The acquisition from Visiocorp plc (in administration) includes only assets in the form of shares of the operating companies, and no debt is being received from Visiocorp plc (in administration).

In 1989: Motherson Sumi started manufacturing wiring harness components and plastic parts as backward integration.
In 1991: It started manufacturing fuses as backward integration through their joint venture Motherson Pudenz Wickmann Ltd.
In 1993: It set up a wire unit, namely Motherson Sumi Electric Wires.
In 1995: It formed Kromberg Schubert Motherson Sumi Systems Pvt Ltd to manufacture integrated wiring harnesses supplied to Mercedes Benz-Telco joint venture & BMW-Hero Motors joint venture for 650 cc motorcycles in collaboration with Kromberg and Schubert AG Germany.
In 1997, it made a joint venture, namely Kyungshin Industrial Motherson Ltd, to manufacture wiring harness for Hyundai.
In 1998: It formed a technical agreement with WOCO and commissioned the manufacturing of rubber components.
In 2001: It commissioned the silicon rubber moulding facility in their 1st overseas manufacturing base in Sharjah.
In 2002: It started MSSL Ireland Pvt Ltd in Ireland.
During 2003 – 2004, it launched 100% subsidiaries, namely Motherson Electrical Wires Lanka Pvt Ltd in Sri Lanka, to manufacture wires and MSSL Handels GmbH in Austria.
In 2004: It incorporated a 100% subsidiary, namely MSSL (S) Pte Ltd in Singapore.
During 2004 – 2005: It enlarged their Noida facilities with a new dedicated unit for exports. It set up a new unit in Chennai to serve the needs of Hyundai Motors and for exports to GM Holden Australia.
In 2005, it commenced Britax Motherson Pvt Ltd in technical and financial collaboration with Britax International UK to manufacturers of Auto Mirrors.
In 2006: It bought the business and assets of ASL Systems Ltd through its 100% subsidiary MSSL GB Ltd.
In 2007, it launched two subsidiaries, namely Motherson Investments Pty Ltd and Motherson Elastomers Pty Ltd through MSSL Australia Pty Ltd. These 2 subsidiaries obtained the business and assets of Empire Rubber Australia from Huon Corporation Pty Ltd, which was involved in rubber mixing and manufacture of rubber extruded components.
During 2007- 2008: It launched 2 new plants in Noida and Pune to meet the requirements of the domestic and export market.
In 2014: It declared the signing of an agreement for the purchase of assets of Scherer & Trier group (S&T) Germany from its administrator through its subsidiary Samvardhana Motherson Automotive Systems Group B.V. Netherlands.
In 2015: It declared that it had requirements, acquired a significant set of orders for the supply of a range of exterior and interior systems for several future Mercedes-Benz vehicle generations through its subsidiary Samvardhana Motherson Automotive Systems Group BV.
In 2018: It declared a Joint Venture (JV) formation with Ossia Inc., innovator of the revolutionary Cota Real Wireless Power technology, through its subsidiary Samvardhana Motherson Automotive Systems Group B.V.
