Entertainment  & Infotainment channels (37 domestic channels, OTT platforms & Studio)

Entertainment bouquet (Viacom18’s 35 channels + AETNA 18's 2 infotainment channels)  stands 3rd  in India.

Flagship colours was 2nd in primetime among Hindi TV shows .Launched Sasural Simar ka -2 which attracted 2mn impressions.

New initiatives during the quarter include launch of Cineplex Bollywood free-to-air movie channel and Colors Gujarati channel in the UK.

EBITDA of Tv18 financials was impacted due to launch of news channel last year also due to colours Tamil and Voot Select

Voot, Viacom18’s Over The Top (OTT) :

Voot Select was launched in Mar-20 and continues to grow with multiple exclusive launch of various events

Average daily spent time per viewer is 44 minutes approximately 

Digital platform analysis :

  • Voot select OTT platform crossed 1 mn subscribers  in its 1st year. The famous big boss show will be launched on exclusively on Voot then will transition to TV

  • Voot kids watch time rose by 25% QoQ

  • Iconic Football League Laliga will have exclusive livestream on Voot and will air on MTV  (Has 3 year exclusive partnership across India) 

Revenue analysis:

Advertisement  revenue:

  • Entertainment : According to Tv18 annual report, revenue from entertainment advertisement of Tv18 value research was impacted due to less demand for advertisement during lockdowns of May and June. However, according to the Tv18 result analysis,  the company rescaled its ad revenue through other sources like shifting shooting locations and other innovative solutions.

  •   TV 18 share price revenue was led by rise in news consumption and digital events as by Tv18 share analysis  and also by election linked advertisement due to covid second wave.

Subscription revenue:

  • Domestic  subscription grew while international subscription revenue of Tv18 stock price was negatively impacted

  • Domestic  subscription revenue prediction  unsure due to proposed new tariff orders

Expenditure analysis:

  • Expenditure fell 14% YoY even though there was a cost increase in content (due safety precautions taken  in full scale news  operations and original entertainment programming and distribution) and distribution ( due to new channels placed on DD freedish and cineplex bollywood)  .

TV viewership:

  • News genre viewership grew  by  28%QoQ due to lockdown and elections

  • Entertainment viewership grew by 8% QoQ due to Sports and  Pay GEC(Hindi and regional)
