What are the Types of Equity Mutual Funds

1. Introduction

Based on our investment goals and our investment strategy, Mutual Funds provide us with various options to invest our money across different asset classes like equity, debt, and gold. in equity mutual fund there is also various types of the mutual fund also available.

2. Types of Equity Mutual Funds:

SEBI in its circular dated 6th Oct 2017 named ‘Categorization & Rationalization of Mutual Fund Schemes’ has clearly defined the categories of all Mutual Funds. They have mandated that each fund house will only have a maximum of 1 fund in each category now (except Sector/thematic category). Due to this, there were a lot of changes – new names of old schemes, mergers of few schemes and re-categorization of few schemes, etc. which happened recently in Apr/May 2018.
