Incorporated in the year 1981, ZF Steering Gear (India) Ltd is involved in the production of Mechanical - worm & roller and integral hydraulic power steering gears in business and industrial collaboration with ZF Friedrichshafen AG Germany, the world's most comprehensive autonomous steering gears manufacturer. ZF INDIA is a homesteader in the construction and supply of Ball and Nut Integral Hydraulic Power & Worm and Roller Mechanical Steering System in India. Its plant is located at Village Vadu Budruk, Taluka- Shirur, 28 km away from Pune in Maharashtra, India. The company aims at broadening its merchandise station to satisfy the growing requirements of the automotive market and is enthusiastic to expand its horizons in its product lines. Their network consists of about 60 traders equally divided all over India, Nepal, Middle East, South Africa and Bangladesh to address all its customer’s needs. The company is listed on the Bombay and National Stock Exchange list.
The company was formed as a joint venture of ZF Friedrichshafen AG.
The original collaborators of the company ZF Friedrichshafen AG Germany (ZFG) formed a joint venture with Robert Bosch GmbH(Bosch) and have established a separate company - ZF LENKSYSTEME GmbH (ZFLS) - which is jointly managed by ZF and Bosch and in which both these partners hold 50% stake each.

2019- Initiated a production facility in Indore.

In 2014 ZF Steering Gear (India) Ltd introduced powered steering gear for tractors, inhouse manufacturing of rotor set, and development of rack and pinion for quadricycle.
2007 and onwards they launched something new almost every year. In 2007, they introduced passenger car power steering.
During the year 1995, they received a quality certification ISO(9001), followed by another quality certification TS16949 in the year 2002 and one more ISO(14001) in the year 2004.
The company received a lifetime achievement award conferred by the NRI chamber of commerce and agriculture.
ZF Steering Gear India Ltd received certification from Shri Narendra Modi for developing a solar power project.
ZF grabbed a trophy for winning the Economic Times leader challenge tour held in Singapore.
Standard corporation India limited recognized the efforts of team ZF and awarded them for the same in the year 2008-09.
