Incorporated in the year 1965, the Vardhman group of textiles was established in Ludhiana, Punjab, India, by Shri VS Oswal & Shri Ratan Chand Oswal. The textile company is engaged in the manufacture and trade of yarn and Processed Fabric, Sewing Thread, Acrylic fibre and Alloy steel. It has numerous manufacturing plants located at Ludhiana, Solan, Sehore and Malerkotla. The company aims at broadening its merchandise station to satisfy the growing requirements of the textile market and is enthusiastic to expand its horizons in its product lines. Vardhman Textile is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vardhman Nisshinbo Garments. The ace textile manufacturer sought to pool financial, managerial and technical resources by the amalgamation of its subsidiary VMT Spinning and Vardhman Nisshinbo Garments, a JV between Vardhman Group and Nisshinbo Textiles Inc., Japan, subject to NCLT approval in 2020.
Vardhman textile has holdings in VMT Spinning, Vardhman threads and Vardhman yarns and threads. From 1995-1996, Vardhman textiles entered into a JV with M/S Barbour Campbell Group Limited of Ireland and M/S Japan Exlan Company Limited.
Mohta Industries Limited was merged with MSML in 1988. At the time of the merger, the Company had a division known as Mohta Alloys & Steel Works, a mini steel plant at Ludhiana. MSML renamed this plant as Vardhman Special Steels

In 1962, a textile plant in Ludhiana, Punjab, was set up. It is known as Vardhman Spinning & General Mills Ltd. VSGML started production to manufacture cotton yarn in 1965.
Mahavir Spinning Mills Limited (MSML), presently known as Vardhman Textiles Ltd., was installed in the year 1973. From 1976-1978, the textile company diversified its business by establishing two units in Hoshiarpur and Maler Kotla, Punjab.
Vardhman spinning and general mills Ltd. set up Dye House in Himachal Pradesh in technical collaboration with Nihan Sanmo Dyeing Company Limited, Japan, in 1993.
In 2014, MSML was changed to Vardhman Textiles Ltd. The company acquired Arisht spinning mills and Vardhman Yarns, a joint venture with the world’s second-largest thread Company, American & Efird, in 2002 and 2006.
During the year 1995, they received a quality certification OHSAS 18001 in the year 2007, followed by another quality certification ISO(14001) in the year 2015.
The company received a Special Achievement Award in Yarns Category in Textiles Export Promotion Council Awards 2011-12
The well-deserved enterprise received Suraksha Puraskar
by the National Safety Council of India, Mumbai.
Vardhman grabbed a golden trophy for the Highest Exports of Processed Yarns and a Silver Trophy for Exports in Counts '50s & Below in Textiles Export Promotion Council (Texprocil) Awards 2012-13. The company was accoladed with Niryat Shree Bronze Trophy in FIEO Awards 2009-10.
