Tata Chemicals (TCL), established in 1939, is the second largest producer of soda ash in the world with manufacturing facilities spread across four continents. 1927: Kapil Ram Vakil sets up Okhamandal Salt Works. On May 4, VT Krishnamachari, then dewan (administrator) of Baroda, lays foundation stone.
