Shreno, formerly known as Alembic Glass Industries, was incorporated in 1944 at Baroda. The main objective of the company is to manufacture glass and glass products. Its products include drinking glasses, tumblers, bowls, plates, juice / beer mugs, coffee / tea mugs, cup-saucers, casserole bowls, plates, ice-cream cups, pudding sets, dinner sets, crystal bowls, lemon sets, storage jars, jugs, and gift-sets. Alembic`s factories are located in Bangalore and Baroda and have an installed capacity for producing 120,000 tpa of glass. Alembic Exports is a wholly owned subsidiary of Alembic Glass.
The company sells its products under the brand names 'Yera' and 'YeraOpal'. Yera range of transparent glassware consists of tumblers, storage jars, jugs, bowls, casserole bowls, beer/juice mugs, coffee/tea mugs, cup-saucers, ice-cream cups, plates, rice plates and gift sets.
During the year 1990-1991, the company successfully commissioned the regenerative furnace. During the year, 1991-1992, the company developed impact resistant glass and new mould metals. During the year 1998-99, the company developed various types of coloured, transparent and coloured opaque glass.
During the year 1999-2000, the company successfully launched new Yera Opal and introduced various new shapes with contemporary designs in tumblers, bowles, mugs, and cup-saucers. During the year 2000-2001, the company developed new method of manufacturing of mugs and tumblers resulting in lightweight ware with better finish. Also, the company launched new mugs, bowles and tumblers.
During the year 2001-2002, the company developed new designs of bowles, plates and water jugs. During the year 2002-2003, the company developed contemporary shapes and designs of tumblers, bowles, plated and water jugs. Also, it introduced a special product called 'Handi'. During the year 2004-2005, the company developed the new pressed - ware technology. During the year 2006-2007,
Shreno amalgamated with the company with effect from April 1, 2006 and the company name was changed from Alembic Glass Industries to Shreno. During the year 2007-2008, the company commenced real estate business and part of the land converted as stock in trade and in the same year, the company improved in overall glass defects.
