MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS
The company was formed in 1902 and was formerly known as ALSTOM India Limited. Alstom India was renamed GE Power India following its acquisition by US pioneer energy developer, General Electric in 2016.
Serving the country for more than twelve decades, GE Power Ltd. is a part of an energy company based in the Netherlands, GE Steam Power International BV.
The energy company is a holding company to various other companies like Ge Power Boilers Services Limited, Alstom Renewable Technologies, NTPC GE Power Services Private Limited, Alstom Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd and ALSTOM Holdings (India) Ltd.
General Electric Company, USA and Wipro Enterprises Limited, INDIA partnered to form GE Healthcare Private Limited in 1990. the joint venture serves countries like India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives and Bhutan.

MILESTONES
1959- established the first boiler manufacturing facility in Durgapur. A decade later, the company established a nuclear reactor at Tarapur.
In 1997, GE Power India joined hands with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). A multi-modal facility was set up in Pune in 2015.
In 2003, the company delivered the first engine for TEJAS, an Indian air force fighter aircraft.
2000- GE Power India Ltd. established the largest integrated multidisciplinary R&D centre in Bengaluru.
During the year 2015, they received a quality certification ISO(9001).
AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS
Delhi International Airport Limited accoladed GE India lTD. with the Engineering Service Provider of the Year award for 2017-2018.
In 2012, Wipro GE Healthcare bagged the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry Healthcare Excellence Award. FICCI recognised GE India work for maternal/infant care in the country.
In 2021, GE renewable energy has been awarded multiple awards by Power Grid to deliver high-voltage transformers and reactors for their massive project in Rajasthan.
