GAIL, a Government of India initiative, was founded in 1984 and is an integrated natural gas business in India. It has 11,500 kilometres of natural gas pipelines, 2300 kilometres of LPG pipelines, six LPG gas-processing facilities, and a petrochemicals facility. It is also an investor in Petronet LNG Ltd, Ratnagiri Gas and Power Pvt Ltd, and the CGD business in numerous towns. GAIL has completely owned companies in Singapore and the United States to extend its position outside of India in the LNG, petrochemical trade, and shale gas asset areas. The associate companies are Indraprastha Gas, ONGC, Petronet LNG & Mahanagar Gas ltd.
