Coromandel International was established in 1961 as Coromandel Fertilisers Limited, through a strategic collaboration between International Minerals and Chemical Corporation, Chevron Chemical Company, and EID Parry. The company began its operations with the commissioning of its first fertiliser plant in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, in 1967 a landmark development that contributed significantly to India’s Green Revolution. In the years that followed, EID Parry progressively increased its stake in the company, leading to Coromandel’s integration as a core entity within the Murugappa Group - one of India’s most respected and diversified business conglomerates. - Fertilisers and Nutrients: The company is the largest manufacturer & marketer of complex fertilisers in the country. Its wide range of products is customized to meet the unique needs of crops and soils. To address the issues concerning the imbalanced crop nutrient practices, declining fertiliser efficiency and low factor productivity, Coromandel forayed into Speciality Nutrients segment.
- Crop Protection: The Crop Protection business produces insecticides, fungicides, herbicides and plant growth regulators and markets these products in India and abroad. Coromandel is the second largest manufacturer of Malathion and is the major manufacturer of Phenthoate in Asia.
- Bio Products: The Bio Products Division provides safe, sustainable, and eco-friendly agricultural solutions that align with global efforts to reduce chemical residues in the environment and on crops. It is holding a global leadership position in the Azadirachtin market, with a strong footprint in more than 40 countries across the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
- Retail: The company has successfully pioneered the rural retail model in India and operate a network of around several outlets across India. It serves over 3 million farmers by offering a range of agri-input products, services and farm advisory solutions.
